I know my birthday was, like, nearly two months ago, but I wanted to share some of the highlights of the weekend. No, I didn’t have a birthday weekend… well, kinda, not really. There was a friend’s wedding smack in the middle of it, but it was lots of time with loved ones and it was great fun. Here I am making a face as I blow out my birthday candle on a delicious chocolate cake. Those nutella zeppole were no slouchies either– both were amazing desserts to cap off a bday dinner!
No trip to Cali is complete without hitting In ‘N Out. Even at 9 PM, we had to wait 10 minutes for our food, but it was well worth it!
On the flight home, me and my girl Shelly ended up with our own rows!!
And this beautiful blue moonrise glow over somewhere in Oregon. I love the full moon- could stare at it all night if I didn’t freeze to death.
Went from the tarmac to this awesome little speakeasy in Capital Hill (by DT Seattle) called Needle and Thread. They mix custom cocktails for you since there is no drinks menu (they stick to Prohibition-style everything, so no vodka here either). Awesome bartender, cool drinks, yummy crackins’!!
Ended the weekend with a 5-hours kaseki meal at Naka– my first one ever! And it was so beautiful. I mean, look at my first course! I’m so glad the server told me what it was and how to eat it. Some of these dishes have to be eaten in order. How can you eat a work of art??
Clearly I did, because this was course 2– the sashimi course. Another one knocked out of the ballpark. Beautiful, delicious, and so fancy!
Just look at that silky chawanmushi! It was stunning and delicious. Maybe I just love the little dishes everything came in, too.
And here’s me and the sister smiling over our deconstructed flan dessert. If it’s not instagrammed- it didn’t happen, right? Good thing this one’s on IG!
It was an awesome weekend to ring in 31. Can’t wait to see the great things that are coming up!
